The primer is of high wettability and spreadability on metal surfaces. It binds residual moisture at the expense of reactivity with water. Penetrating into rust residual on surface, it isolates it and harden link with metal substrate.
Destination and fields of applications
Is applied for repair coating of metalwork constructions with minimum preparation of the surface (St 2 / St 3), i.e. the surfaces with the signs of adherent rust and mill scale.
The primer is used as:
- an undercoat (1 layer) in complex anticorrosion protection systems with polyurethane and epoxy materials of Fine Metal Powders Co. production: ZINOTAN, FERROTAN, ALUMOTAN, ZINEP, POLITON-UR.
- an independent coating (1-2 layers) of metalwork constructions, used in all atmospheric environments according to ISO 12944-5:2007.
Certification, testing
The sanitary-and-epidemiologic finding ¹ 66.01.10.231.Ï.001228.04.04 dated 27.04.2004.
Approbated by the Russian River Register.

Reccomended condition of the painted surface
- Oils, lubricants and other adipose matters as well as moisture and dust are to be removed from the sized metal surface;
- Thoroughly remove loose mill scale, rust and old paint traces by means of mechanical cleaning to St 2 or St 3 according to ISO 8501-1: 1988;
- Remove dust.
The primer can be applied on moistened but not wet surface. Moisture drops, ice and hoarfrost are to be removed.
Application method
- The primer is to be thoroughly shuffled up to homogeneous state before using;
- The composition can be applied at temperature from -15 °Ñ to +40 °Ñ and relative air humidity from 30 % to 98 %.
Drying time of the coating depends on temperature and relative air humidity: when air humidity increases, drying time decreases (optimum amount of relative air humidity from 40 % to 80 % and temperature from +5 °Ñ to 40 °Ñ). The maximum period after which the next layer FERROTAN-PRO or other coating is to be applied is not more than 7 days (at temperature (20+2)°Ñ and relative air humidity more than 40 %), minimum – drying time to “touch-dry” rate. It is recommended to avoid long contact of the primer with air (when intervals in working – the container with the material is to be covered, when shuffling, making swirls, turbulences est. is not permitted).
